I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other pet owners should be aware of my experience. I brought my puppy, Goose, to PawMed after he began vomiting. The staff recommended a parvo test, which I agreed to because I wanted to do whatever was necessary for him. After the test, I was told the results were “abnormal” and was immediately presented with treatment options for parvo. When I asked for clarification, I received three different explanations from three different staff members. One technician said the test was abnormal, another struggled to explain the results and became defensive when I asked if she could please explain the results to my sister-in-law that has worked 18 years in veterinary technician field, and a third stated that “abnormal means positive.” Because I have a family member with 18 years of veterinary technician experience, I called her during the visit. She questioned the explanation based on the manufacturer’s interpretation of the IDEXX SNAP test. When I asked to see the actual test so I could better understand what everyone was describing, I was told it had already been thrown away. I was disappointed that I was expected to make important medical and financial decisions without being able to review the test after receiving conflicting explanations. My concern is not that they considered parvo—that is an important disease to rule out. My concern is the inconsistent communication, the lack of confidence in explaining the results, and the inability to show me the test after I requested to see it. I hope PawMed reviews this situation so future clients receive clear, consistent communication during what is already a very stressful experience.

Vet refused to see pet because it was 45 mins prior to closing. We were concerned our pet was dying and the vet chose to send us to cvrc instead of even looking at the animal. A cursory examination could have provided important information for future steps (ie. Pet is stable and can be seen the next day by primary care vet / pet needs to be referred to cvrc / pet was, in fact, dying -determined by simply checking vitals- and humane euthanasia was the best option). Flat out refusal to examine pet with 45 mins remaining in posted operational hours was clearly a choice based on human convience versus posted mission statement.

Dr DeRespino is incredible! We have brought elderly dogs to her for urgent help in years past and our young accident prone dogs to her in recent months. She also helped me with a very sick stray cat that found her way to us this spring. Dr DeRespino is so good at explaining things in a compassionate, clear way that always puts us at ease and helps us to make decisions during very stressful and unplanned visits. (Plus -she is FUNNY- and a little levity can sure go a long way in moments like those..! ) Our dogs AND our cats all love her and the Paw Med team. So thankful to have found them!!

Maddie, Cody, and Dr. DeRespino are so wonderful. After my dog got into a bag of chicken jerky treats while I was away from home she got very sick, couldn't hold down any food or water, and was acting completely unlike herself. Her curly tail even uncurled. :( Dr. DeRespino and her technicians were so informative and laid out all of my options for treatment. She got fluids, IV nausea medication, and an antacid, and she is doing so much better. I feel so relieved and I'm so glad to have such a good team for after-hours care!

I know people always love to put bad reviews and never any good ones and I needed to ensure that a good one is here. We took our dog in after him not feeling good after a few days and were worried with him not eating and throwing up randomly and calling multiple vets with no luck till we called PawMed and they took us right away. They ensured Broly was taken care of and had him back to normal within three days of his parvo and the IVs and kept us informed each step of the way and ensured he was getting the help he needed and deserved. Will be a return customer if any issues come up down the road with our three pitbulls and cat
